WHAT WE STORE, AND NOTHING WE DON'T.
A short and specific list rather than a long and vague one. If it is not here, we do not collect it.

You can use most of this without an account
Creating a Settle, joining one, reading a Receipt and taking the daily test all work signed out. An account exists only for the private ledger, and it is optional.
What a Settle stores
Both parties' first names, statements, confidence numbers and email addresses; the resolution date; the outcome and any note explaining it; and two unguessable tokens that act as the links sent to each of you.
Names, statements, confidences and the outcome appear on the public Receipt. Email addresses never do. They are used to send the join link, the reminder and the Receipt, and for nothing else.
Published Receipts are public and permanent
A Receipt is a public web page. It can be read by anyone with the link, it may be indexed by search engines, and it cannot be edited or deleted afterwards.
This is the one part of the product where you should think before you type, because it is the one part that cannot be undone. See clause 02 of the terms.
What the daily test stores
How many questions you answered, how many you got right, your average confidence and your calibration score, plus which day's set it was. No account is needed and nothing identifies you.
If you send someone a head-to-head challenge, the first name you type is stored so it can be shown to them. If you guess the day's average, that number is stored so it can be scored against everyone else's results.
What the ledger stores
Your claims, their confidence numbers, their dates and their outcomes, linked to your account. It is private and visible only to you — enforced in the database, not just in the interface.
Forecasts on other people's claims
If you forecast the open claim shown in the daily, only the probability, the day and which claim it was are recorded. Nothing links it to you.
A claim only appears there if its author explicitly opted in when creating it. It is off by default, and their name and email are never shown.
Abuse prevention
To stop the product being used to send unwanted email, we count recent requests per network address and per recipient address. Those values are stored as salted one-way hashes, so the underlying address cannot be read back out, and they expire on their own.
We also record whether a Receipt view came from a person, a link-preview bot, or a redirect after resolving — a single classification, with no profile or identifier attached.
No tracking, no advertising
There are no advertising trackers, no cross-site tracking and no cookie banner, because there is nothing to consent to. The only cookie is the sign-in session, and only if you sign in.
One measurement script does run: Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views and where they came from. It sets no cookies, does not follow you to other sites, and is not used to build a profile of you — it exists to answer whether anybody is reading these pages at all. Nothing it records is sold, shared with advertisers, or joined to your account.
It also counts three things you can do rather than just read: opening the form to start a Settle, and pressing either subscribe button. What is recorded is that it happened and which plan was pressed — never who did it, and never anything you typed. These exist because a page view cannot tell us whether somebody tried and gave up, and that is the only thing we are asking.
We do not sell, rent or share personal information. There is no arrangement under which we could.
Who else handles it
Supabase stores the database and runs sign-in. Vercel hosts the site. Resend delivers email. Google authenticates sign-in — it is now the only way in, so having an account means Google saw you sign in. Where an AI-written counter-argument is generated for one of your own claims, that claim's text is sent to Anthropic to write it.
Your choices
You can ask what we hold about you, ask for corrections, or ask us to close your account and delete your ledger. Email hello@getsettleit.com.
The exception is published Receipts, which cannot be removed. That is stated before you create one, on the create screen and again here, so it is never a surprise.
Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, email hello@getsettleit.com with what happened. We will acknowledge it within 5 business days and give you a written answer within 30 days, saying what we found and what we have done about it.
If you are not satisfied with that answer, you can take the complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au, which oversees the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
