THE RULES, INCLUDING THE UNCOMFORTABLE ONE.
Short, in plain English, and honest about the part people object to after the fact rather than before.

What this is
Settle It is operated by Hart & Heim Pty Ltd (ABN 23 123 508 663), a company registered in Australia. It lets two people record a disagreement — each with a statement, a confidence number and a shared resolution date — and publishes the outcome on a public page called a Receipt.
Using the site or the app means you accept these terms. If you do not, do not create or join a Settle.
A published Receipt is permanent
When a Settle resolves, its Receipt publishes to a public URL. It cannot be edited, and it cannot be deleted — not by you, not by the other party, and not on request afterwards.
This is the product, not a limitation of it. A prediction you can quietly remove once it goes badly is not a prediction, and the whole point is that the record survives whether you win or not. Assume anything you write will be readable by strangers forever, because it will be.
What you write is yours, and it is your responsibility
You keep ownership of your statements. You give us permission to store them and to display them publicly on a Receipt, which is the only way the product works.
You are responsible for what you write. Do not put someone else's private information into a claim, do not use it to harass anybody, and do not write anything unlawful or defamatory. You are naming yourself and one other person on a permanent public page — write accordingly.
Who decides the outcome
You do. On the resolution date, the parties record what happened. We do not verify claims, judge disputes, or arbitrate between two people who remember it differently.
Where the two parties disagree about the outcome, the Receipt says so rather than picking a winner. Where reality did not answer the question, it can be recorded as ambiguous, and ambiguous results are excluded from calibration scores rather than counted as half-right.
No money, no wagering
Settle It does not take stakes, hold funds, or pay out. Nothing here is a bet, and the product must not be used to arrange or settle gambling. There is deliberately no mechanism to attach money to a claim and there is not going to be one.
Price
Creating Settles, joining them, reading Receipts and the daily test are free and need no account. There is one paid plan, set out on the pricing page, which adds depth on your own ledger and a larger allowance of counter-arguments. Nothing in the loop above is behind it.
All prices are in Australian dollars and include GST. You are charged the displayed amount and nothing is added at checkout. A new account gets the paid features for a limited period without a card and then returns to the free tier by itself — it is not charged at the end of that period.
You can cancel at any time from inside the app. Cancelling stops the next renewal and access continues until the end of the period already paid for.
Accounts
Most of the product works without one. Where you do create an account, keep your sign-in link and your email secure — anyone with access to your email can access your ledger. You can ask us to close your account at any time, which removes your private ledger but does not remove published Receipts, per clause 02.
Availability and liability
Settle It is provided as-is and without warranties. We work to keep it available and to keep every published Receipt readable, but like any online service it may be interrupted, reminder emails may be delayed or fail to arrive, and we cannot guarantee against data loss. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from using it or from being unable to.
Nothing here limits rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded.
Changes and jurisdiction
These terms may change; the date at the top says when they last did. Material changes will be announced on the site rather than applied quietly, and if a change materially affects you while you are paying for Pro, you can cancel before it takes effect and keep the access you have already paid for to the end of that period. Cancelling is always available from inside the app and never costs anything. These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia.
